About The Position

The Deputy Chief of Staff (A&AS Support) provides high-level administrative, operational and strategic support to the Space Sensing Program Executive Officer (PEO), Deputy PEO (DPEO), and the Government Chief of Staff (CoS). As a senior-level advisor, this individual facilitates the synchronization of daily staff operations and ensures that executive-level actions are executed with precision. This is a non-inherently governmental role; the successful candidate will focus on supporting and facilitating decision-making processes, managing organizational workflows, and coordinating strategic communications across the USSF Space Sensing community.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a leadership, Chief of Staff support, or executive-level administrative role within the Department of War/Department of Defense (DoW/DoD) or USSF with 10+ years’ experience in space acquisition, program management, and/or space operations.
  • Deep understanding of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process for acquisition programs.
  • Proven experience in budget formulation, cost estimation, financial reporting, and/or cost/schedule variance analysis for complex MDAP, or equivalent, programs.
  • Strategic and tactical understanding of: Space Systems Command organizational structure and processes, USSF organizational structure, Engagements with Congressional members, Flag Officers, and senior leaders, Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution phases, DoW/DoD acquisition lifecycles, Mission Area Requirements construct and validation.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the government staffing process including extensive experience managing formal taskers and executive-level staff actions.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear executive briefings.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance (or as required by the specific program).
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Engineering, Space Operations, or Public Administration).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate seamless communication between the PEO, DPEO, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ensure leadership is prepared for high-level engagements, and synchronize daily staff activities, ensuring alignment with Space Sensing and USSF strategic objectives.
  • Support the Government CoS in managing the Space Sensing workflow, including the assignment, tracking, and quality control of high-level taskers, Congressional inquiries, and executive correspondence.
  • Ensure suspense dates are met with accuracy.
  • Assist in the drafting, reviewing, and finalization of executive correspondence, decision memorandums, policy documents, and Congressional inquiries.
  • Facilitate comprehensive integration across mission partners, including Combat Forces Command, Space Acquisition and Integration, and commercial space industry partners, to support the fielding of resilient space sensing architectures.
  • Organize and facilitate senior leadership meetings, off-sites, and reviews.
  • Prepare agendas, capture action items, and track progress toward completion.
