GFT is seeking a Deputy Area Manager to join our Construction Services Team in Charlotte, NC! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Charlotte office. The Deputy Area Manager will support the Area Manager in the leadership and growth of transportation construction management operations throughout North Carolina. This includes assisting in managing staff utilization, workforce planning, recruiting, resource allocation, and overall operational performance. The role also involves establishing and implementing strategic growth initiatives, fostering a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and client service excellence, and supporting hiring efforts, staff development programs, performance evaluations, and succession planning. A key aspect of this role is mentoring project managers, resident engineers, inspectors, and construction management personnel to support their professional growth and advancement. Additionally, the Deputy Area Manager will serve as Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Deputy Project Manager on major transportation infrastructure projects, leading and overseeing project teams in various aspects of construction management and project delivery. They will ensure projects are delivered in accordance with NCDOT specifications, standards, policies, procedures, and contract requirements, while monitoring project schedules, budgets, staffing needs, risks, and construction progress. The role also involves leading project meetings, coordinating with various stakeholders, and resolving complex construction issues. Client management and business development are crucial, requiring the maintenance and strengthening of relationships with NCDOT personnel, local municipalities, regional transportation agencies, and industry partners. The Deputy Area Manager will serve as a primary client contact and support business development efforts, including opportunity identification, client outreach, strategic planning, proposal development, interviews, and contract negotiations. Technical leadership and guidance on transportation construction management best practices are also expected, including participation in constructability reviews, risk assessments, and supporting design teams with construction expertise.
