About The Position

The Depot Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, disassembly, testing, and assembly of electro-mechanical medical devices. All service work performed must be clearly documented in the approved Service Management System. The technician will work from documented procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, or sketches as defined in the B.D. Quality System. Good keyboard data entry skills are a must in this high-paced environment. The technician will independently coordinate assignments and perform the job with limited supervision. This role is technical competence, team member, task/result oriented, and requires accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Good keyboard data entry skills.
  • Good keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to analyze and investigate returned equipment through data review and operational testing.
  • Ability to track returned equipment through the Service Management System and report status of repairs accurately.
  • Ability to set up and operate test equipment to record measurements properly.
  • Ability to perform assembling and testing of electronic components and subassemblies for device repair.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and procedures, ISO and FDA requirements.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Nice To Haves

  • Writing skills sufficient to write accurate technical reports.
  • Participate in the development or editing of local documentation for equipment repair.
  • Assist in the support of Quality and Regulatory to ensure systems are in compliance with all internal and external guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned including incoming receiving and decontamination of devices.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, test, and assemble electro-mechanical medical devices.
  • Document all service work performed in the approved Service Management System.
  • Work from documented procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, or sketches.
  • Write accurate technical reports.
  • Document service activity required to repair returned equipment per corporate standards and local procedures.
  • Analyze and investigate returned equipment through data review and operational testing.
  • Identify any negative trends for the devices serviced by reviewing past service history.
  • Track returned equipment through the Service Management System and report status of repairs accurately.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to record measurements properly.
  • Perform assembling and testing of electronic components and subassemblies for device repair.
  • Participate in the development or editing of local documentation for equipment repair.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and procedures, ISO and FDA requirements.
  • Assist in the support of Quality and Regulatory to ensure systems are in compliance with all internal and external guidelines.
  • Perform incoming receiving and decontamination of devices.
  • Coordinate assignments independently.
