About The Position
The 1880 Train is South Dakota's premier historic railroad, offering unforgettable scenic excursions through the beautiful Black Hills. Every season, we welcome thousands of guests from around the world, creating lasting memories through exceptional hospitality, rich history, and outstanding customer service. We're looking for an energetic, hospitality-minded individual to join our team as a Depot Café Attendant. This early-morning, seasonal position is the heartbeat of our guest experience before the first whistle blows - from brewing the perfect cup of coffee to stocking fresh grab-and-go bites that fuel our guests for a day of adventure in the Black Hills. Requirements
- Friendly, positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for guest service
- Early-morning availability required (shifts begin before depot opening)
- Dependable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and stay organized during busy prep periods
- Team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Food handler certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Nice To Haves
- Prior food service, café, or hospitality experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Prep and open the café for daily operations ahead of depot opening
- Craft coffee and hot beverages for guests and crew
- Prepare, assemble, and stock grab-and-go food items (pastries, sandwiches, snacks, etc.)
- Assist with meal prep and F&B setup for scheduled departures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment
- Deliver exceptional customer service to every guest
- Represent the 1880 Train with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Follow all company safety procedures and food handling standards
