About The Position

Fifth Third Bank is looking for a Depositor Services Processing & Support Supervisor to facilitate and coordinate relationships with key line-of-business stakeholders to minimize risks in end-to-end Bancorp processes for Processing and Support within Depositor Services. This role involves collaborating with corporate legal, business controls, retail, and product teams to identify and interpret changes in regulatory situations, industry trends, and product-specific issues, ensuring compliance with IRS, Federal, and state guidelines to mitigate reputational and financial risk. The supervisor will maintain a deep knowledge of IRS Information Reporting Regulations, including FATCA, and ensure department procedures and training are compliant and up-to-date. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate and professional service for inquiries from Financial Centers, timely fulfillment of Image Services and Verification of Deposit (VOD) requests, and consistent performance of high-risk functions such as tax information reporting and backup withholding. The role also involves facilitating project work, including analysis, requirements writing, testing, and implementation of new applications, as well as assisting management in planning and monitoring workflow, efficiency, and operational controls. The supervisor will identify process improvements, comprehend issue implications, and oversee the resolution of escalated operational, customer service, and quality control issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in operations or related experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with discretion.
  • Ability to negotiate and collaborate with others, initiate action, adapt to change, make difficult decisions while considering the risk and accept challenging assignments.
  • Leadership skills, initiative, detail oriented, strong analytical skills and decisive decision making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.
  • Strong working knowledge of bank operating systems, Raft, ACE, Mobius, Document Direct, Image Archive, Frontier and the Retirement Reporting System.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate relationships with key line-of-business stakeholders (e.g., Retail, Bancorp Legal) to minimize risks in the end-to-end Bancorp processes for Processing and Support within Depositor Services.
  • Collaborate with corporate legal, business controls, retail and product to identify and interpret changes in regulatory situations, industry trends and product specific issues IRS, Federal and state guidelines to mitigate reputational and financial risk and manages their impacts to associated processes, procedure modifications, communicating any changes to the department.
  • Maintain a highly proficient knowledge of IRS Information Reporting Regulations and stay current on all policy changes including FATCA.
  • Ensure that department procedures are compliant with all relevant regulations and ensure top-down training is administered appropriately.
  • Ensure accurate and professional service regarding inquiries from Financial Centers on Depositor Services issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of Image Services requests, including check image requests and statement reconstruction requests.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of Verification of Deposit (VOD) requests.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate performance of functions with high risk exposure to the Bancorp, including maintaining the accuracy of tax information reported to the IRS, backup withholding compliant with Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 (FATCA) requirements and verification of customer profile integrity.
  • Facilitate project work, including analysis, writing requirements, developing and executing test plans.
  • Plan, test and implement new applications, document changes, enhancements, mergers and/or conversions.
  • Assist the manager in planning and monitoring the workflow of a group of employees within an assigned functional area, while maintaining optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness and ensuring that production standards are met and maintained.
  • Assist in monitoring system and operational controls identifying areas of risk and suggesting possible improvements.
  • Conduct the necessary research and create the supporting documentation for the improvements.
  • Identify process improvement/efficiencies and assist in implementation of these ideas.
  • Identify and comprehend the implications of the issues addressed (e.g., Legal, regulatory, operational in nature) and tracks those issues on the appropriate reports and continues to educate staff.
  • Oversee & assist in resolving escalated operational & customer service issues, quality control issues, or employee issues.
  • Perform any other duties/projects as assigned.
