About The Position

The primary focus for this position is assisting members in all aspects of the credit union’s savings products and services such as certificates of deposit, IRAs, money market accounts, etc. The Deposit Operations Specialist will be responsible for providing up-to-date information, answering questions, research and resolving discrepancies, and maintaining all documentation for savings products and services. This role requires a high level of accuracy, regulatory knowledge, and a proactive approach to member engagement and product development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2-3 years member/customer service experience
  • 2 years minimum experience in financial industry, preferably in savings products or deposit operations.
  • Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to analyze data, metrics, and market trends.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple teams.
  • Attention to high level of detail, accuracy, and organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in related field preferred
  • IRA Specialty certification required
  • Financial Counseling certification required
  • Knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and philosophy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet service standards and expectations.
  • Attend staff and department meetings as scheduled.
  • Promote credit union products and services.
  • Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient service on all savings products and services.
  • Keep work area clean and sensitive material properly secured.
  • Complete assigned training in a timely manner as required for compliance with regulations.
  • Reply to member inquiries regarding savings products received in person, by telephone, or electronically.
  • Set up savings accounts or issue IRAs, CDs, or money market accounts.
  • Enter all required information into credit union systems and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation that complies with State and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Research and resolve any issues, discrepancies, or problems on sales products and services.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for the credit union on IRAs, CDs, and other savings products and services.
  • Ensure that knowledge of the specialty is current by attending education seminars and/or reading industry periodicals and/or pending changes in rules and regulations.
  • Assist in design and development of marketing plans for retirement, CD, and other savings products.
  • Oversee and/or coordinate new and current member outreach; may coordinate outreach plans with marketing.
  • Review current retirement products for future adjustments, improvements, expansions, or elimination depending on market strengths and weakness.
  • Report on related industry products, pricing, and improvement strategies.
  • May assist in the development of departmental goals and budgets and in writing short and long-term product plans.
  • Provide other member service activities as requested and/or as time allows.
  • Generate reports as requested by management and/or the Board.
  • Stay current on credit union products, policies, and compliance requirements to better evaluate member situations and propose solutions.
