About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Deployment Network Specialist 4 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role is part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The Deployment Network Engineering staff will primarily support the O&M Network Engineer in pre-installation, on-site deployment, and go-live testing. This includes preparing and performing on-site network surveys, participating in infrastructure configuration and testing before deployment, and hands-on implementation at customer sites. Deployment Network Engineers are responsible for all documentation and revisions of each deployment and providing feedback for future improvements. The job requires 100% on-site work at customer facilities, with no teleworking anticipated. Domestic and international travel is expected.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge in network device configuration.
  • Ability to use device command line interfaces (CLI) and make configuration changes as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud provider environments such as AWS and Azure.
  • Working knowledge of WAN technology and deployment and troubleshooting different communication circuit types.
  • Understanding of layer 1 technologies and their capabilities and limitations, including cable management, cable types, media converters, circuits to include CPE, Telco & Demark, etc.
  • Experience in creating network diagrams, rack elevations, and cable drawings.
  • System configuration based on DoD security policy and guideline.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, MPLS, QoS).
  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Field AND 7+ years working experience in a networking role OR 12+ Years work experience in a networking role.
  • Strong communication skills and experience using ticketing.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for international travel.
  • Ability to identify cable colors, markings or labels.
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

Nice To Haves

  • IL-2 or higher experience a plus
  • Juniper/HPE/JUNOS experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and perform on-site network surveys at customer sites.
  • Participate in infrastructure configuration and testing activities prior to deployment.
  • Directly involved in the hands-on implementation at customer site.
  • Responsible for all documentation and revisions of each deployment.
  • Provide feedback to the O&M Network Engineer for future deployment improvements.
  • Deployment of network equipment and technology.
  • Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot & identify issues at all layers of the network.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and manage network security across a multi-enclave environment.
  • Installation experience with routers, switches, firewalls and Security and Encryption appliances.
