About The Position

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Neurological Institute and become part of one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world. Our Institute is expanding with a new one million square foot, 15 floor, state of the art facility on Main Campus to enhance care for complex conditions such as brain tumors, spine injuries, epileptic seizures, neuromuscular disorders and strokes. The building brings all stages of care under one roof with dedicated areas for outpatient services, surgery, stepdown, ICU and epilepsy monitoring, along with additional operating rooms and expanded ambulatory, infusion, imaging, EMG, sleep and brain study services. We are welcoming nearly 500 new caregivers to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to nationally recognized, innovative neurological care. As a Department Workleader, you will serve as a supportive, knowledgeable and reliable resource for the team, helping facilitate quality patient care, team collaboration, efficient workflow and appropriate training. In addition to the core responsibilities of a Patient Service Specialist (PSS), you will provide additional support specific to the Imaging team, including assisting at the front desk and utilizing WOWs to enter patient rooms and complete patient check-in. You will also audit patient registrations from the previous day to ensure accuracy and completeness and serve as a subject matter expert and resource for escalations. Additionally, you will assist with staffing schedules and desk assignments, using Excel to plan coverage approximately one to two weeks in advance. Your leadership and support will help promote smooth daily operations and a positive experience for patients, families, visitors and team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience coordinating multiple tasks OR Associate’s Degree and two years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience.
  • Dexterity sufficient to operate a PC and other office equipment.
  • Requires extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
  • Must be able to navigate various locations and function in a fast-paced, hectic environment.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the work leader and perform various duties to support the department.
  • Coordinate resources for daily assignments and coordinate work schedules.
  • Distribute work to maintain departmental workflow and desk coverage.
  • Supervise the department function and resources in the absences of the manager.
  • Participate on project teams to build competency around specific department tools and methods for organizational performance improvement.
  • Conduct quality monitoring by providing training, recommending improved processes and maintaining documented processes and procedures.
