About The Position

The Lab Supervisor is required to supervise all lab mechanical testing including tensile, impacts and root guided bend testing, chemical analysis, hardness testing, micro hardness testing, grain size evaluations and weld profiles. The Lab Supervisor is required to review all HTL folders and release lots when all requirements are met. Manage hourly employee’s schedules, attendance, vacations, and disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, maintenance, or related environment
  • Area-specific technical knowledge relevant to assigned department.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), quality standards, and company policies.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate policies and expectations clearly to employees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use company operational systems (e.g., SAP or other ERP systems).
  • Ability to analyze data, production schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, technical training, trade certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that the test samples and data entered in SAP are released from quality status in less than 24-hours.
  • Make sure that the tensile test is completed within 1-hour of receiving the sample from HTL.
  • Verify test folders contain all test sheets, results and that they comply with standard procedures.
  • Define priorities to address requirements for HTL, TTL and Shipping.
  • Responsible for traceability of all test specimens and records.
  • Responsible for reporting test results and data entry in data base.
  • This position ensures all products are tested and meet specification and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate when we can test outsourced collapse samples that will not interfere with current production for TTL.
  • Work on special products to help improve production and the integrity of the weld.
  • Work with quality supervisors in Mill and TTL to analyze weld defects.
  • Monitor equipment, materials, and departmental resources; recommend repairs, replacements, or procurement as necessary.
  • Participate in accident, injury, or incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, quality, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-control measures.
  • Perform hands-on operational duties as needed.
  • Complete additional assignments as directed by management.
