About The Position

The Department Supervisor is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team, and maintaining an excellent customer experience. The role includes engaging with customers, modeling exceptional service, and keeping the store and backroom clean, organized, and recovered. The supervisor coordinates truck deliveries and merchandise flow, trains and mentors Associates, monitors productivity, and works with management to address training needs and priorities. The role also supports store safety, compliance, shrink reduction, credit and loyalty programs, and adherence to labor laws and company policies. The position is at the HomeGoods store at 8550 Rio San Diego Drive in Mission Valley, California. Starting pay is $18.75–$19.25 per hour, with actual pay based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

1 year of retail experience and 6 months of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience and model exceptional customer service.
Promote honesty and integrity, and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks according to the store plan and prioritize work as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates, and provide progress updates.
Give and receive recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
