About The Position

The University of Saskatchewan (USask) and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) are inviting applications for the Provincial Department Head of the Department of Pediatrics. This is a senior leadership position within the College of Medicine at USask and the SHA. The Department of Pediatrics is a provincial academic and clinical department focused on advancing equitable, family-centred care for children and youth across Saskatchewan. It offers comprehensive pediatric care across various subspecialties, with primary services located at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, complemented by outreach programs that extend care to communities throughout the province. The department is dedicated to achieving excellence in clinical care, education, and research, and plays a vital role in the training of future pediatricians in Saskatchewan. The Provincial Department Head will report to both the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer of the SHA. In this role, the Head will be responsible for overseeing and leading all academic, clinical, research, and operational activities of the department. A key aspect of the position is ensuring that the department's priorities are in alignment with the strategic objectives of both the College of Medicine and the broader health system. As a member of the senior leadership teams for both the College and the SHA, the Provincial Department Head will be instrumental in integrating medical education, research, clinical practice, and public health priorities, thereby facilitating the translation of knowledge into improved health system performance and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. The ideal candidate is expected to take office in March 2027, with candidate consideration beginning in April 2026.
