About The Position

The Department Manager is responsible for merchandising and sales within the assigned Hardware department and providing the highest level of customer service. The position reports to the Store Manager and requires the ability to work days, nights, and an alternating weekend schedule. Extensive knowledge and understanding of hardware and project work is preferred. The pay range is $18.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience.

The role involves directing and coordinating merchandising, setting priorities for distributing new merchandise, maintaining adequate inventory, assisting customers with purchases, communicating product needs with retail buyers, helping train and direct new department team members, and ensuring safe merchandise handling. The position is performed in a retail store environment. Reasonable accommodations may be considered for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the merchandising of assigned products.
• Set priorities for distribution of new merchandise within the assigned department.
• Ensure adequate inventory in all areas of the assigned department.
• Assist customers with purchases.
• Work closely with Retail Buyers to communicate department product needs and other product information.
• Assist with training and directing new department team members.
• Ensure employees and customers practice safety when handling merchandise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
