About The Position

At JAX Mercantile Co., we are passionate about serving our customers. Join our local, family-owned company as a Department Manager in our JAX Outdoor Gear, location in Broomfield, CO. Make someone's day by sharing your enthusiasm and excitement in finding the best footwear and accessories for our customers at JAX! Lead the team that answers questions about the quality, fit, and function of our footwear and helps our customers locate a specific brand or item. Product training, pro-deals, and our employee discount mean you can try out items in order to increase your knowledge and provide expert opinions to our customers. Our Department Manager is responsible for providing outstanding customer service. The role supports overall department operations by providing employee orientation and development, scheduling coverage, managing performance, leading by example when assisting customers and finding ways to improve the service provided by JAX. Duties include coordinating with the buyers team to provide feedback on products, visual merchandising with product displays, managing inventory, stocking, and organizing the department.

  • Previous experience and interest in retail leadership preferred
  • Enthusiasm required for finding the right footwear for the customers' needs
  • Knowledge of the brands carried by JAX preferred
  • Prior top-notch customer service experience
  • Prior retail lead or supervisory experience
  • Comfort and adaptability with learning new technology or computer systems
  • Ability to be flexible and work retail hours
  • Engaging and positive
  • Effective trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to present and maintain a professional demeanor
  • Must be available at least one weekend day and at least one week night
  • Flexible availability required

Responsibilities

  • Creating schedules two weeks in advance
  • Ensuring coverage by working with employees or stepping up fill gaps when necessary
  • Providing honest and informative answers about our products
  • Addressing loss prevention concerns
  • Participating in inventory responsibilities
  • Assembling new stock
  • Maintaining a clean and well-stocked area
  • Complete record-keeping and creating reports
  • Completes special orders
  • Coordinates with others to plan for sales and promotions
  • Ensure proper documentation and pricing of products
  • Works to engage and inspire teamwork with department employees
