About The Position

The Department Lead is responsible for leading associates and maintaining excellent customer service, product knowledge, and merchandising in a designated department: Hardlines, Animal Health, Cashier, Clothing/Boots, or Material Handling. The role oversees daily department operations, supports store leadership, trains associates, and helps maintain store presentation and inventory. It also involves customer assistance, operating a forklift and propane dispensing equipment, and performing routine department cleaning.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience working in a retail environment.
Experience operating a POS system.
Experience operating Eagle Browser.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments and shift priorities accordingly.
Familiarity with operating a computer system and email.
Familiarity with standard retail concepts and practices.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Responsibilities

Operate a forklift and dispense propane.
Load merchandise into customer vehicles.
Greet and acknowledge customers, answer questions, and help them locate products.
Oversee daily department operations, including merchandising, display presentation, signage standards, and inventory monitoring.
Train new associates on systems, procedures, and product knowledge.
Create and implement daily worklists and goals for store associates.
Assume the duties of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers when scheduled.
Open and close the store as needed and scheduled.
Assist in leading store meetings and store goals and objectives.
Answer incoming phone calls.
Maintain constant radio communication with associates.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Coastal Farm products, product information, and merchandise promotions.
Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store housekeeping.
Help in other departments when needed.
Perform daily cleaning, including vacuuming, replacing full trash bags, and sweeping the department floor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
