About The Position

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) unit is seeking a highly motivated Department Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager is an administrative leadership position responsible for developing, executing, and supervising the work of an HR team that supports faculty, staff, student, and academic personnel processes within Academic and Student Affairs (ASA). The role provides strategic human resources leadership, overseeing recruitment, compensation, classification, payroll, compliance, employee relations, faculty renewals, and workforce planning initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources practices, regulations, standards, and employment law compliance.
  • Experience handling complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience leading and developing HR teams.
  • Experience improving processes and implementing innovative HR strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with HR reporting and workforce metrics.
  • Experience conducting position analysis, workforce planning, and classification reviews.
  • Experience developing and delivering training and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Experience using Workday, DocuSign, DocuWare

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, hires, trains, mentors, develops, and evaluates assigned HR staff.
  • Prepares and coordinates personnel and administrative reports; analyzes employment statistics and workforce data for leadership decision making.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership, managers, and business operations staff to resolve personnel concerns and operational challenges.
  • Provides coaching and guidance regarding employee development, engagement, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrates proactive problem solving and responsiveness to organizational needs.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization and foster a positive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership at all organizational levels.
  • Coordinates hiring activities to ensure appropriate classification, compensation, and organizational alignment.
  • Manage staff recruitment processes, including postings, qualifications, applicant evaluations, salary placement recommendations, and hiring.
  • Oversee faculty, staff, student, graduate student, and academic personnel hiring and renewal processes, as applicable.
  • Coordinates instructional support student employment activities, including graduate hiring, renewals, etc.
  • Administers and monitors recruitment systems and reporting tools.
  • Oversees visa and foreign national employment processes.
  • Coordinates and manages offer letters and employment actions for all employee classifications.
  • Manages faculty summer salary processes and other academic payroll actions.
  • Oversees payroll reconciliation processes and maintenance of electronic personnel records.
  • Provides guidance regarding leave programs including FMLA, paid leave, workers compensation, and related employment matters.
  • Manages and participates in internal and external audit requests and compliance reviews.
  • Manages staff classifications, compensation programs, salary structures, and developmental and promotional adjustments.
  • Allocates positions and budget resources to appropriate classifications.
  • Reviews and implements salary recommendations within approved compensation guidelines and salary ranges.
  • Analyzes position structures and workforce needs and makes recommendations regarding staff, student, and academic professional positions.
  • Supports leadership in evaluating positions and aligning employee responsibilities with organizational needs.
  • Oversee merit, notice of appointment, renewal, and related compensation review processes.
