About The Position

The Department Head, Visual Arts, is a 12-month administrative position with an anticipated start date of May 2026, though a different start date may be negotiated. The Department Head will manage day-to-day operations of the department, supervise all programs offered by the department, develop course schedules, make faculty course assignments, supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff, manage the departmental budget, advise students, review and update departmental curricula, hire and supervise adjunct faculty, work toward the resolution of student complaints, serve on College committees, oversee planning and assessment activities, and perform other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with a Master of Fine Arts degree or a master’s degree in art history or related field and four years related full-time post-secondary teaching or administrative experience are required.
  • An earned master's degree in a different discipline may be considered in combination with demonstrated administrative and leadership capabilities.
  • Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
  • Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.
  • Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.
  • A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
