About The Position

Columbus Water & Power is looking for a full-time Assistant Director to provide strategic and operational leadership to support efficient administration, maintenance, safety, and daily functioning of departmental facilities and services. Under administrative direction, this role will assist leadership in overseeing building operations, administrative functions, staff coordination, vendor management, and compliance, ensuring the continuity of services, safe working environments, and effective resource use. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in operations or facilities management
  • Experience supervising teams
  • Experience coordinating projects
  • Experience working with vendors
  • Proficiency in operational reporting
  • Proficiency in budgeting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in management systems

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an advisor to the director on activities and or functions related to the department
  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of rules, regulations, and policies
  • Develops and coordinates special projects or programs, such as the Small Business Concierge, initiated by the department
  • Oversees and coordinates administrative or operational functions, such as departmental fiscal and public/media relations, within the department
  • Prepares comprehensive and technical reports, documents, and correspondence
  • Represents the director or the department at meetings with constituencies, civic associations, business and special interest groups, community and neighborhood groups, or the public
  • Keeps the director informed, on a timely basis, of all situations that could affect the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives
  • Directs, guides, and evaluates performance of staff within assigned area of responsibility; ensures programmatic alignment with departmental goals and administrative strategy.
