About The Position

This position is located at the Cal Poly Solano Campus in Vallejo, California. Reporting directly to the DRC Director, the Department Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, and administration of the department and testing center. This position provides administrative oversight for the Disability Resource Center and the testing center at the Cal Poly Maritime Academy at the Solano Campus and provides support to the testing center at the San Luis Obispo campus. The position provides broad administrative support in areas including departmental operations, budget management, purchasing, personnel support, testing center, and the implementation of policies and procedures. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) implements federal and state laws by providing support services and academic accommodations to students with disabilities. Services include, but are not limited to, disability management, alternative testing, alternative media, accessible technology, transportation coordination, document conversion, note-taking assistance, and information and referral services. The DRC serves students with learning, psychological, physical, and sensory disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Four years of general office support or technical experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to independently anticipate, set, and coordinate multiple work unit priorities and projects with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot standard office and program administration problems and respond to inquiries and requests related to the work area, referring more complex matters as appropriate.
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate problems, and resolve issues in a timely manner, applying independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to develop solutions that are practical, thorough, and at times creative.
  • Demonstrated skill in gathering, tracking, and compiling data and information, and presenting it in a concise and organized manner for meetings and reports.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
  • The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

  • Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience.
