About The Position

The Dentist provides clinical dental care within the scope of their license and credentials at Mile Square Health Center clinics, in accordance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines. The role includes examining, diagnosing, and treating patients; providing preventive services and oral-health education; maintaining accurate records and completing referrals; and contributing to department policies, staff training, and other assigned projects.

Requirements

Degree from an accredited dental school.
Current State of Illinois dental license.
Current DEA license.
Eligible for University of Illinois College of Dentistry privileges.
Current valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Examine patients to determine the nature of their conditions using X-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic tools and procedures.
Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth, gums, and related oral structures.
Clean, fill, extract, and replace teeth using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical implements.
Provide preventive dental services, including fluoride applications and dental sealants.
Educate patients continuously about oral and dental hygiene.
Accurately and completely document patient-dentist transactions, including the patient’s condition and the care or treatment provided.
Complete referrals, data collection instruments, and other required records.
Assist with the design, development, and implementation of Dental Department policies and protocols that comply with current accepted professional standards.
Assist with continuing education, on-the-job training, and orientation of community health center staff as requested.
Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
