Dentist (Part-Time) - SCI Huntingdon
About The Position
The Department of Corrections invites skilled dentists to bring their expertise to a part-time role that supports important community health needs. As a Dentist (Part-Time) with the Department of Corrections, you will help deliver dependable dental services to the inmate population at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon. This position offers clinical autonomy, assignment flexibility that supports work-life balance, and excellent support from a dedicated team in a stable clinical setting. This position focuses on providing essential dental care and overseeing daily operations within the correctional setting.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide examinations, diagnose oral diseases, and deliver dental treatment to inmates
- Supervise the daily work of assigned dental staff
- Assist specialists during on-site procedures
- Maintain required tool control, security measures, and material handling procedures
- Consult with and refer patients to physicians, oral surgeons, and other health care professionals
