About The Position

In this role, you will support dental healthcare operations within the detention facility by assisting dental providers with clinical procedures, resident care activities, equipment preparation, and dental records management. You will help ensure residents receive safe, efficient, and professional dental services while maintaining compliance with government detention standards, infection prevention procedures, and healthcare regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a secure detention healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year as a Dental Technician.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Dental Technician (CDT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and dental providers during examinations, procedures, treatments, and resident dental care activities.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, dental instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to scheduled appointments and clinical procedures.
  • Sterilize dental instruments, sanitize treatment areas, and maintain infection prevention standards in accordance with OSHA and healthcare requirements.
  • Record resident dental histories, treatment information, clinical notes, and healthcare documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate resident dental appointments, treatment schedules, follow-up visits, and specialty referrals as required.
  • Maintain inventory accountability for dental supplies, instruments, medications, and operational equipment while reporting shortages or maintenance concerns.
  • Operate dental equipment including x-ray systems, sterilization equipment, and chairside instruments safely and properly.
  • Monitor resident behavior and communicate professionally while supporting a safe and secure clinical environment.
  • Ensure compliance with government detention standards, healthcare regulations, infection control procedures, and facility operational policies.
  • Support audits, inspections, and operational reviews related to dental healthcare services and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, effective communication, and attention to detail while supporting daily dental healthcare operations within the detention facility.
