About The Position

Family First Health is seeking a Dental Reception Specialist Lead for their Columbia Dental office. Candidates should have a working knowledge of dental terminology and be computer proficient or have the ability to learn. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Knowledge of computer software applications (Microsoft Office Applications, others)
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation as it relates to correspondence necessary to perform essential job functions
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Skill in operating office equipment
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Ability to critically think which means the ability to think clearly and rationally about what to do or what to believe; understand logical connections between ideas; and identify, construct, and evaluate arguments
  • Ability to set positive examples for team members through exceptional work performance including adherence to company policies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients at front desk.
  • Delivers excellent customer service to both internal and external customers by maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
  • Checks in patients.
  • Answers telephone.
  • Directs the caller to the appropriate place.
  • Provides patients and others with the requested information.
  • Schedules, reschedules, and cancels appointments as needed.
  • Enters/updates demographic data.
  • Enters/updates insurance information.
  • Prepares charts for the following day’s visits.
  • Scans or places information received from external providers in patients’ dental charts.
  • Verifies insurance (coverage & eligibility).
  • Collects and records payment.
  • Exits patients.
  • Enters all patient charges.
  • Prepares daily batches for fiscal department.
  • Prepares prior authorizations as required.
  • Receives consult and medical clearance forms and schedule patient accordingly.
  • Contacts patient when prior authorization is received (scheduled appropriately).
  • Participates in Outreach event preparation by attending an event as requested as well as processing close outs and following up as requested by the DR Lead or Business Office Supervisor (BOS).
  • Develops and follows up with outreach relationships.
  • Identifies department priorities and carries out work accordingly under the appropriate supervision.
  • Assists Business Office Supervisor as the point person for clinical and Dental HIM staff to contact for front desk problem resolution.
  • Assist Business Office Supervisor to maintain the performance tool spreadsheet.
  • Actively participates in the training of Dental Reception Specialists (DRS) in providing fully functional dental records.
  • Actively works with staff to deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external customers by supporting the Family First Health Guiding Principles.
  • Actively participates in departmental/organizational meetings as required.
  • Mentors staff in support of succession planning.
  • Collaborates within the department on process improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for compliance of DRS policies and procedures within the department.
  • Assists in the training of new staff.
  • Acts as a point person for the resolution of patient complaints.
  • Seeks out opportunities to expand knowledge of the practice management system.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
