An employee working as a Dental Hygienist with the McCloud Healthcare Clinic, Inc. assists in providing quality, compassionate preventative and restorative general dentistry services in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current California Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) Licensure.
  • Two years’ experience working in a related position.
  • Maintains/Renews CA RDH licensure as required.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to become certified.
  • Verbal and written communication proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of a cross-functional team of providers, engaged in routine and preventive dental care.
  • Provides dental hygiene treatment to children and adults in a primary care setting.
  • Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Prepares treatment room for patients, adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepares patients for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating and draping patient.
  • Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health.
  • Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Examines teeth and gums for signs of disease or decay by: feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession, and completing an oral cancer screening.
  • Performs dental prophylaxis, remove deposits (plaque, tartar, stain) from the teeth and from beneath gum margins.
  • Applies preventive agents such as fluoride and sealants to the tooth surfaces.
  • Assists the Clinic’s dentist as needed in further treatment of teeth and gums.
  • Charts conditions needing further diagnosis and treatment by the dentist and for patient record maintenance.
  • Assists with charting patients’ medical and dental histories in patient records.
  • Documents dental hygiene services in patient records.
  • Provides information to patients (and employees) by answering questions and requests.
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions.
  • Provides reminder/s of time of next dental hygiene visit.
  • Accurately reports all procedures to billing staff for proper billing to patient or third party payers.
  • Assists in ensuring optimal performance of equipment/instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening and sterilizing instruments.
  • Helps complete preventive maintenance requirements of dental equipment, following manufacturers’ instructions.
  • Helps troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, calling for repairs as needed and informing the clinic’s financial department of equipment repair needs.
  • Helps with evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Assists in maintaining dental equipment and supplies inventory by tracking inventory levels and anticipating needed supplies.
  • Places orders for supplies, and verifies receipt of supplies.
  • Works as a team player to accomplish the goals of the Clinic.
  • Maintains operations by following the Clinic’s policies and procedures, and report perceived need/s for changes.
  • Provides the highest level of service to clients.
  • Maintains confidentiality by following all applicable HIPAA regulations.
  • Respects Clinic equipment used to perform job tasks.
