About The Position

A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education. As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery. The College of Dentistry is looking for a Dental Hygienist to serve in the Comprehensive Dentistry department. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Requirements

  • Associates degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience in a dental clinic.
  • Dental Hygienist License

Nice To Haves

  • More than three years of experience in dental clinic.
  • Local anesthesia or nitrous oxide certification.
  • Knowledge of infection control and OSHA compliance.
  • Experience working in high volume educational institute.
  • Advanced knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Some administrative experience.
  • Experience seeing a minimum of four to five patients per day.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care Plans and prepares oral prophylaxis, scaling, and root planning, and other preventative services for patients.
  • Applies current knowledge of technical and clinical aspects of dental hygiene while treating patients.
  • Provide education to patients on preventative and oral health care.
  • Completes oral screenings and assessments of new patients and develops oral care plans.
  • Review patient histories for proper precautions and record medical treatment in patient charts.
  • Provides patient care to a minimum of four to five patients per day, depending on the demands of the schedule.
  • Clinical Administration Works with the patient scheduler to ensure patients are aware of their appointment, making pre- and post-follow-up calls.
  • Works with referring dental offices to serve incoming patient needs as well as existing patients.
