Provides general preventative dental care designed to preserve teeth and prevent the spread of oral disease. This role involves performing professional dental oral prophylaxis, including calculus removal, plaque and stain removal, and smoothing of tooth surfaces. It also includes providing additional professional services such as scaling and root planning, polishing restorations, oral exfoliative cytology, and application of pit and fissure sealants. The position requires performing preliminary examinations, applying fluorides, recording and maintaining client Electronic Health Records (EHR), performing dental radiographs, and taking preliminary impressions. Additionally, the role involves providing preventive dental education and screenings, removing sutures and dressings, removing excess cement, traveling to satellite facilities, attending staff meetings, developing goals and plans, and ensuring the sterilization and disinfection of instruments and treatment rooms. The position also requires assisting in policy development and quality improvement activities, and demonstrating a commitment to learning about and working with American Indian culture and people in a culturally responsive manner. Level II responsibilities include the ability to perform independently at a satellite site.
