Dental Hygienist
About The Position
The Dental Hygienist position is located at 1000 Airbase Road, Pollock, Louisiana, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The role involves providing comprehensive dental hygiene services to adults in custody, including scaling and root planning, periodontal maintenance, and prophylaxis. Key responsibilities include performing periodontal charting, providing oral hygiene instructions, monitoring patient conditions, completing dental x-rays, sterilizing instruments, and managing patient scheduling paperwork. The hygienist will also be responsible for administering local anesthesia as needed.
Requirements
- US Citizen Required to be certified/licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in any state in the United States
- Three letters of reference from professional peers
Responsibilities
- Provide scaling and root planning (SRP) procedures, periodontal maintenance, and/or prophylaxis as indicated on the adults in custody who are referred by the dental staff.
- Perform comprehensive periodontal charting, probing, and documentation.
- Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions for each patient.
- Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis.
- Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist.
- Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff.
- Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental staff.
- Administer local anesthesia as needed.
