Under the direct supervision of the Dental Operations Manager or its equivalent, the Dental Hygienist will render educational, preventive and therapeutic dental services and diagnosis, and treatment planning for such services. This role involves coordinating with the dental team to evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for active disease states in the oral cavity, preparing treatment plans, and examining patients' teeth and surrounding tissues. The hygienist will also record and evaluate patient histories, perform oral prophylaxis and therapeutic care, and organize treatment time efficiently. They will administer local anesthesia, provide oral hygiene instruction, take and interpret radiographs, and maintain infection control procedures. Additionally, the role includes completing chart notes, screening patients, managing clinic tasks, maintaining inventory, updating systems, assisting with patient records, maintaining equipment, and participating in policy development. The position also involves managing home care stations, clinic maintenance, adhering to policies, maintaining attendance, communicating effectively, attending meetings, performing delegated dental assistant tasks, participating in patient recall, and developing/implementing dental hygiene programs. The hygienist will use judgment in selecting techniques and refer significant deviations to the dentist. They will also coordinate, develop, and facilitate dental prevention programs and activities, including outreach, and maintain a clean and sterile environment. Other duties as assigned.
