About The Position

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist to join their Ambulatory Operations team. This role involves documenting patient needs, delivering direct dental care, providing patient education, and developing individualized dental care plans. The position also includes participation in clinical laboratory studies and assisting in the education of UMMC students.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene School.
• Mississippi licensure, current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and techniques.
• Knowledge of patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and documentation.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses dental condition and patient needs using established dental procedures such as medical history review, dental charting, and perio charting; takes patient vital signs.
• Delivers direct dental care to patients to include cleaning, polishing, x-rays, application of sealants and fluorides and related procedures.
• Develops individualized care plans and performs patient education in consultation with a qualified dentist.
• Performs general dental administrative duties such as developing x-rays, scheduling appointments and greeting patients.
• Documents dental history or primary complaint and relays information to the dentist.
• Participates in clinical and laboratory studies; mentors dental students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
