Under the general supervision of the Dentist(s) and Dental Director, the Dental Hygienist provides direct patient dental hygiene care with a quality approach. The Dental Hygienist works to advance positive patient outcomes through their duties as a primary care treatment team provider. Requirements

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
  • Current Montana dental hygienist license
  • BLS certificate
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience as a dental hygienist

Responsibilities

  • Achieves organizational expectations for quality of dental hygiene care provided, maintaining knowledge of dental hygiene best practices and standards of care.
  • Performs dental hygiene services at One Health service site including scaling & root planning, full mouth scaling, periodontal maintenance, and prophylaxis which involve subgingival & supragingival curettage and coronal polishing with or without the administration of local anesthetic.
  • Takes dental radiographs as prescribed by Dentist while properly handling digital radiograph sensors and/or panoramic x-ray machine.
  • Performs yearly periodontal probing, or more frequently as warranted per patient disease level.
  • Identifies recall interval for patient by evaluating their current periodontal/gingival health and oral hygiene.
  • Educates patient on dental/periodontal findings/conditions and provides oral hygiene instruction.
  • Applies topical fluoride.
  • Maintains and updates patient charts, including health history information, vitals, and charting of present restorations and planned treatment; completes all chart documentation within 48 hours of patient visit.
  • Maintains appropriate clinical measures while caring for panel with an average of 6 visits per shift using a patient-centered, collaborative approach.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and models the mission of One Health when interacting with internal and external stakeholders promoting a positive image for the health center.
  • Prepares equipment and operatory for daily procedures, including but not limited to cleaning and maintaining hygiene cassettes and trays, and infection control measures.
  • Assists in coordinating patient flow. Assists in scheduling patients when needed.
  • Places orders for dental supplies as directed by Dentist or Dental Director. Works with other clinical support staff in organizing and maintaining inventory, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs weekly/monthly maintenance on dental equipment.
  • Works as a team player, assisting other support staff as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of dental clinic, including hallways and breakroom.
  • Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities as required.
  • Travels to other regional dental clinics to fill-in for dental hygienist absences or meetings as needed.
  • Adheres to all One Health Policies and Procedures.
  • Participates in performance optimization and risk management activities as required.
  • Cooperates and abides by all elements of One Health’s Compliance Program.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and models the mission of One Health when interacting with internal and external stakeholders promoting a positive image for the health center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required with or without prior notification.
