About The Position

Maria de los Santos Health Care Center is seeking a Dental Hygienist Practitioner to join their Dental Team. This position is responsible for providing dental prophylactic services and dental education for all patients. The role is located at the Maria de los Santos Health Center’s dental practice, with potential travel to other practices as needed for operational coverage. This is a 40-hour per week position with full benefits.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A current license to practice within the state of Pennsylvania is required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required.
  • Demonstrated positive, enthusiastic and tolerant demeanor while working with patients and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Public Health Dental Hygienist is preferred.
  • Certification for Anesthesia preferred.
  • Previous dental experience and experience using computers in operatories preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and updates health histories and previous treatment at each appointment.
  • Evaluates and/or records: tooth mobility; inflammatory areas; presence of plaque; presence of calculus; depth of any periodontal pockets; missing or broken teeth; defective restorations; restorations; and prosthodontic appliances.
  • Takes impressions for study models when indicated.
  • Takes patient's blood pressure and pulse.
  • Takes digital radiographs.
  • Scales with appropriate instruments and polishes teeth.
  • Performs soft tissue curettage and root planning.
  • Cleans any removable appliances and applies sealants.
  • Applies fluoride treatment to the teeth, if needed.
  • Maintains all equipment, appliances, and instruments under efficient, functional, and sterile conditions to meet OSHA and safety regulations.
  • Documents dental care services rendered in patient electronic health record (EHR) accurately and timely.
  • Provides patients with age-appropriate dental health education and instruction.
  • Communicates with patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintains productivity level based on DVCH standards, with respect to the average number of patient annual visits.
  • Consistently participates in continuing medical education activities.
  • Provides coverage for other auxiliary dental personnel as requested.
  • Completes other duties as requested by the Dental Director and/or Dentists.
