About The Position

Joining our Dental Department, the Dental Hygienist will join our Bronx FQHC. The Dental Hygienist will clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The Dental Hygienist will also educate patients and families on oral hygiene, take and develops x-rays, and applies fluoride and sealants.

Requirements

• NYS Registered Dental Hygienist
• Familiarity with dental terminology and general principles of dentistry
• Computer proficiency
• BLS and Local anesthesia certification

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease.
• Educate patients and families on oral hygiene.
• Take and develop x-rays.
• Apply fluoride and sealants.
• Examine gums using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
• Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums.
• Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity-preventing agents to arrest dental decay.
• Provide clinical services or health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.
• Note and review patient medical history, and look for indications of oral cancer.
