The Dental Hygienist promotes dental health and provides direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients. With a Quality, Customer First, and Compassionate approach, The Dental Hygienist will prepare the treatment room and patient for dental hygiene treatment, maintain instrumentation, select materials and equipment based on patient's oral health, deliver appropriate treatment based on the treatment plan, complete dental prophylaxis, detect disease through oral cancer screening and examination, prevent dental decay by applying fluorides, maintain patient appearance and ability to chew by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning appliances, assist the dentist with emergencies, educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative instructions, initiate oral hygiene instruction with all patients, refer abnormal findings to the appropriate provider, notify the dentist of patients who fail to respond to initial therapy, document dental hygiene services, follow clinic protocol with reviewing patient's medical history, and maintain dental supplies inventory. The clinic follows a radiographic protocol and produces diagnostic radiographs.
