About The Position

The Oral Health Screening Coordinator supports the implementation and growth of the organization’s oral health screening program through patient screenings, oral cancer screenings, care coordination, patient education, documentation, and collaboration with medical and dental teams. This position focuses primarily on oral health screening services in both medical and dental settings while also supporting clinical dental operations as clinic needs arise. Responsibilities may include direct clinical hygiene services, outreach activities, workflow implementation, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support integrated patient care initiatives. Continuation of this position is dependent upon operational needs, funding availability, and the ongoing sustainability of the oral health screening program.

Requirements

  • Valid and active California Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing
  • Completion of an accredited dental hygiene education program
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation
  • Radiation safety certificate
  • Current CPR, BLS, and First Aid certification
  • Must pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in dental hygiene, preventive services, patient education, and/or oral health screening preferred
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in both medical and dental clinical environments
  • Participation in outreach activities and community events as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Perform oral health screenings in collaboration with medical and dental teams
  • Provide patient education regarding oral health, preventive care, and recommended follow-up treatment
  • Document findings accurately and efficiently within the electronic health record
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up care for patients requiring additional dental evaluation
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and optimization of workflows related to the oral health screening program
  • Collaborate with providers, support staff, and leadership to improve screening efficiency and patient access to care
  • Participate in community outreach and health promotion activities as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with infection control standards, clinic policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support dental clinic operations and provide clinical hygiene services as clinic needs arise
  • Take diagnostic digital radiographs as needed
  • Maintain professional communication and culturally sensitive interactions with patients and staff
  • Participate in continuing education and training activities to maintain clinical competency
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to evolving program and clinic needs
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
  • Maintain dependable job attendance and reliable follow through with assigned tasks
