Under the direct supervision of the Dental Director, the Dental Hygienist will render educational, preventive and therapeutic dental services and diagnosis, and treatment planning for such services. This role involves coordinating with the dental team to evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for active disease states in the oral cavity, preparing treatment plans, and examining patients' teeth and surrounding tissues. The hygienist will also record and evaluate medical and dental histories, perform oral prophylaxis and therapeutic care, and administer deep scaling, root planning, and subgingival curettage under dentist supervision. Additionally, the role includes applying sealants and fluoride, administering nitrous oxide/oxygen conscious sedation and local anesthesia, providing oral hygiene instruction, taking and interpreting radiographs, and maintaining infection control procedures. The position also involves participation in outreach events, managing clinic tasks, maintaining inventory, updating systems, assisting with electronic dental records, equipment maintenance, and contributing to operating procedure updates. The Dental Hygienist will also manage the home care station, clinic maintenance, attend meetings, perform delegated dental assistant duties, participate in patient recall, and develop/implement comprehensive dental hygiene programs. Professional growth and development are encouraged, with referrals to the dentist for significant deviations from guidelines. The role includes providing performance feedback to Dental Assistants, performing receptionist duties in their absence, and providing hygiene services at alternate locations with an Expanded Practice permit. Other duties as assigned.
