About The Position
Virginia Family Dentistry is seeking a Part-Time Dental Hygienist to join their Mechanicsville team. This position is available on Mondays and/or Fridays, with office hours from 8 am to 5 pm. The company offers other locations in the Richmond area for full-time, part-time, and temporary roles. Applications are accepted from Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH) licensed in Virginia, as well as recent hygiene school graduates awaiting licensure. A signing bonus is available for this role.
Requirements
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in the state of Virginia
- BLS certified (American Heart Association, Basic Life Support for healthcare providers)
- High degree of skill with hand instrumentation and ultrasonic inserts
- Experience in digital radiographs and Dentrix Enterprise electronic patient records preferred
- Scaling and Root planing
- Certified to administer nitrous oxide and local anesthesia

Responsibilities
- Review daily schedule, prepare operatory, seat patient, review and update medical history
- Perform oral cancer screening, take x-rays, and administer fluoride treatment
- Perform prophylaxis, debridement, scaling and root planning, comprehensive periodontal charting to include probing depths, bleeding, suppuration, mobility, furcation grade, and recession, any periodontal therapy and sealants as necessary
- Educate patient on oral health
- Communicate the dentist’s treatment plan with patient and front desk
- Schedule future hygiene appointments with the patient
- Record all clinical notes and treatment in Dentrix
- Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, State Board, and sterilization requirements
