About The Position

The Dental Front Desk receptionist serves as one of the first points of contact for patients and visitors of the clinic. Responsibilities include providing prompt, informative, and professional customer service to visitors, patients, and staff, as well as ensuring timely, accurate, and secure registration of patients. The Dental Front Desk will also assist the dentist when needed. Handles telephone calls, both inbound and outbound, to schedule, confirm, and follow up on appointments. Works with Lighthouse Texting service to enter patients and schedule properly. Registers patients for appointments and takes the necessary documentation for accurate billing. Verifies and enters insurance information. Completes prior authorization process for Medicaid and other insurance companies. Computerizes billing of Medicaid and third party payers. Informs patients of OneWorld’s billing and collection policies. Executes the sliding fee scale and informs patients of the scale accurately. Establishes agreed-upon payment plans when policy requirements can be met, under supervision of the Dental Operations Manager. Works with patients to collect payment of services prior to the execution of treatment plans. Accepts and records fees, issues receipts as appropriate. Reconciles monies received to appointments and delivers daily receipts to safe. Posts patient payments to patient accounts. Works directly with the dentist and patients once treatment plan has been established.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish required.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office required.
  • Strong Attention to detail, positive customer service, effective teamwork skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate filing system for the retrieval of needed information.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to providers, patients, and representative of third-party payers and the ability to work as a "team" member of the medical office staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out the assigned duties of this position independently or with only minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dentrix or other comparable software system preferred.
