About The Position

Muskegon Family Care is looking for a Full- Time Dental Clerical Support Staff to join our Supportive & Collaborative Team. This role facilities the flow of patient needs and provides excellent guest services to patients, community partners, agencies and families. The Clerical Support Staff ensure that all issues are appropriately resolved or escalated.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED (Required).
  • Customer service experience.
  • Computer and Dental Terminology experience.
  • Familiar with various insurance companies and Health Maintenance Organization (HMA) guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a Dental setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, Front Desk Registration, Referrals and Medical Records.
  • Utilizing Dentrix and Practice Management systems efficiently and with accuracy.
  • Creating a welcoming environment.
  • Maintaining a neat and clean work area.
  • Assisting with the training of new clerical support staff employees.
  • Assisting patients with general information, as well as directing them to the appropriate area.
  • Performing data entry, creating various logs, and compiling information as needed.
  • Entering and updating patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verifying insurance coverage utilizing several on-line verification systems.
  • Photocopying insurance card(s) and identification cards as needed.
  • Assuring that proper health maintenance and other forms are updated and/or signatures are obtained when needed.
  • Canceling no-show appointments and making proper notation and follow-up calls to reschedule.
  • Answering incoming calls, prioritizing calls, taking accurate messages and understanding the use of the telephone system.
  • Requesting and accepting co-payment.
  • Scheduling patient appointments utilizing the proper time increments.
  • Understanding the criteria for scheduling same-day appointments.
  • Making reminder calls to patients the day before their scheduled appointment.
  • Completing proper request to submit to the LEP Coordinator to arrange interpreter services.
  • Ensuring that appropriate release documents are signed before medical records are copied, transferred or distributed.
  • Scanning medical record information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Understanding and complying with all HIPAA requirements.
  • All other duties assigned.
