Dental Assisting Instructor
About The Position
Heartland Technical Education Center is seeking a Dental Assisting Instructor for the SY 2026-2027 contract period. This position involves teaching assigned classes, planning and implementing lesson plans aligned with state standards, and developing course syllabi. The instructor will also be responsible for ensuring program compliance with accreditation criteria, recommending class schedules, and collaborating with public/private entities for training opportunities, including externships and internships. Additionally, the role requires exemplifying professionalism, maintaining open communication, pursuing professional development, and ensuring safety precautions are taken. This is a one-year limited contract position with weekly hours determined by the Adult Education Director, not to exceed 29.
Requirements
- Valid state department of education license/certificate as determined at the time of appointment.
- Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned classes/subject matter as scheduled.
- Plans, organizes and implements appropriate lesson plans aligned with state standards/district curriculum goals.
- Identifies prerequisite employment skills and profiles essential training characteristics.
- Assists with program planning and curriculum development.
- Develops course syllabus.
- Ensures program compliance with all required criteria to maintain accreditations/charters.
- Recommends class schedules based on enrollment demand and equipment/classroom availability.
- Collaborates with public/private entities.
- Seeks opportunities to participate in joint training ventures.
- Coordinates arrangements with employers to provide on-site training opportunities with externships or internships.
- Communicates program objectives/performance expectations to students.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of subject matter and pedagogy.
- Organizes subject content and learning goals.
- Prepares instructional materials.
- Arranges the classroom for instruction.
- Evaluates academic needs of students.
