About The Position

LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry, Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or Dental Assistant 2. Requirements

• No experience or training required.
• Knowledgeable of computers.

Nice To Haves

• Current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
• EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
• Maintain and stock cabinet.
• Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge).
• Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student.
• Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student.
• Place rubber dam as directed by dentist or student.
• Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations.

Benefits

• Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
• $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title
• Additional compensation $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
• $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
• $1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
