Dental Assistant - Full-Time
About The Position
This entry-level role is intended for candidates who are new to the dental field and want hands-on experience under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. Licensure is not required. The position provides exposure to patient care, infection control, dental procedures, and practice operations, with on-the-job training and support for those interested in pursuing formal education and New York State registration. The unlicensed dental assistant serves as a dental chair assistant, office assistant, and sterile processing technician, supporting the dental team in delivering patient care.
Requirements
- Active BLS certification, or obtain it within three months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused attitude for routine interaction with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Prior experience in sterile processing or a general or specialty dental practice.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients and treatment areas and assist with procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques, suction, tissue retraction, and mixing dental materials under supervision.
- Sterilize and organize instruments, prepare trays, and maintain dental equipment according to infection control standards.
- Manage non-clinical patient records, assist with appointment scheduling and inventory, and keep treatment rooms clean and stocked.
- Escort patients, provide comfort measures, and deliver general instructions as directed.
