About The Position

This entry-level role is suited to candidates who are new to the dental field and want hands-on experience under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. The position does not require licensure and provides exposure to patient care, infection control, dental procedures, and practice operations. On-the-job training and support are offered to employees interested in pursuing formal education and New York State registration. Under a licensed dentist’s supervision, the unlicensed dental assistant works as a dental chair assistant, office assistant, and sterile processing technician to support high-quality patient care. The position is at Riedman Health Center in Rochester, New York, and is full-time at 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

Active BLS certification or obtain it within three months of hire.

Prior experience in sterile processing or a general or specialty dental practice.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients and treatment areas.
Assist with procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques, suction, retract tissues, and mix dental materials under supervision.
Sterilize and organize instruments, prepare trays, and maintain dental equipment according to infection control standards.
Manage non-clinical patient records and assist with appointment scheduling and inventory.
Keep treatment rooms clean and stocked.
Escort patients, provide comfort measures, and deliver general instructions as directed.
