About The Position

The Smilist is seeking a reliable, friendly, and motivated Dental Assistant to support its commitment to high-quality dental care and positive patient experiences. The role travels within the five boroughs and provides per-diem temporary coverage as needed. The Dental Assistant helps patients feel comfortable, prepares them for treatment, and assists doctors and hygienists during procedures. The role also involves maintaining a clean and sterile clinical environment, preparing treatment rooms and instrument trays, supporting patient flow, and managing operatory supplies.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Dental Assistant.
Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment, procedures, and infection control protocols.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.
Ability to work collaboratively with doctors and other team members in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn and grow professionally.

Nice To Haves

Experience with a dental specialty.
Dentrix experience (preferred, but not required).

Responsibilities

Help patients feel comfortable and confident by addressing their concerns and reinforcing trust in their doctor or hygienist.
Prepare patients for treatment and assist doctors and hygienists during dental procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile clinical environment.
Escort patients to and from the front desk and help ensure a smooth patient experience.
Prepare and organize instrument trays and treatment rooms for scheduled procedures.
Monitor operatory supplies, maintain inventory, and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
Follow infection control, sterilization, and office safety protocols.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
