About The Position

The Dental Assistant maintains medications, supplies, and equipment; maintains statistical data; and coordinates educational materials for patients. The role also provides patient care as needed during dental clinics. The Dental Assistant supports the dentist and dental hygienist during procedures, prepares and cleans treatment rooms, maintains sterilization practices and the x-ray machine, and documents patient care. The position includes patient education, prescription calls as directed by the dentist, coordination with dental offices and dental labs, inventory management, and coordination with the receptionist on scheduling and service charges.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
Registered Dental Assistant with a current Texas license.
Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience.
Computer skills are necessary.
Exceptional time-management skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

Prioritize work according to the clinic’s mission.
Greet patients cheerfully.
Assist the dentist with all procedures.
Prepare rooms for procedures and clean rooms after procedures.
Maintain sterilization, including tracking monthly changes of cold sterile and daily disinfection of the ultrasonic.
Take patient x-rays and chart existing work and/or missing teeth.
Assist the dental hygienist with setting up and cleaning rooms for procedures.
Maintain the x-ray machine.
Document completed and outstanding work in patient charts.
Educate patients on the importance of oral health and answer their questions.
Call in prescriptions for patients according to dentist orders.
Request and maintain patient records from other dental offices.
Order and stock equipment and supplies.
Communicate with the dental lab regarding pickups and deliveries.
Coordinate with the receptionist regarding scheduling and appropriate service charges.
