About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a full-time Dental Assistant at El Dorado Correctional Facility in El Dorado, Kansas. Working under the direct supervision of a dentist, the Dental Assistant supports patient care and manages dental instruments, supplies, and records. The role is based in a correctional healthcare setting and is subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
Requirements
- At least one year of dental assistant experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to meet initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operatory with appropriate instruments and materials for scheduled patients.
- Assist the dentist during treatment by providing instruments and materials and performing retraction or suction.
- Sterilize instruments and disinfect the operatory between patients.
- Schedule patients for dental appointments.
- Perform laboratory procedures, including mixing impression material for dentures, and assist with clinical prosthetic dentistry procedures.
- Develop and mount routine radiographs.
- Assist in maintaining dental charts and record dental findings.
- Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Follow safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills.
- Follow Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
- Inventory and order supplies to maintain proper levels.
- Attend required training and meetings.
