Dental Assistant
About The Position
This entry-level role is for candidates new to the dental field who want hands-on experience under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. Licensure is not required. The position provides exposure to patient care, infection control, dental procedures, and practice operations, with on-the-job training and support for those who wish to pursue formal education and New York State registration. Under the supervision of a licensed dentist, the unlicensed dental assistant functions as a dental chair assistant, office assistant, and sterile processing technician to support high-quality patient care. The position is based at Riedman Health Center in Rochester, New York, and is scheduled for 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- Active BLS certification or obtain it within three months of hire.

Responsibilities
- Prepare patients and treatment areas and assist with procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques, suction, tissue retraction, and mixing dental materials under supervision.
- Sterilize and organize instruments, prepare trays, and maintain dental equipment according to infection control standards.
- Manage non-clinical patient records and assist with appointment scheduling and inventory.
- Ensure treatment rooms are clean and stocked.
- Escort patients, provide comfort measures, and deliver general instructions as directed.
