About The Position

The Dental Assistant works energetically to improve and secure CHCL as the medical and dental home for its clients. Under the general supervision of the Dental Director and Site Manager, the Dental Assistant provides chairside assistance and support for the Dentist, performs procedures such as taking x-rays and sterilizing dental instruments, and provides dental education, especially to children and their parents or caregivers. Employees may be required to travel for continuing education or testing, health fairs, and off-site clinics. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some weekend and evening work.

Requirements

High school graduation or GED equivalent.
Texas RDA Certificate.
Extensive radiology experience or a Radiology Certificate from the State of Texas.
Qualified in BLS techniques.
Knowledge of basic dental instruments, equipment, and dental materials.
Knowledge of basic dental terminology.
Understanding of and commitment to HIPAA rules and regulations.
Skills in active listening, speaking, reading comprehension, critical thinking, service orientation, monitoring, chairside assisting, and patient education.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience as a chairside assistant preferred; new Dental Assistants are welcomed to apply.
One year of experience in ordering and maintaining supplies preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities
