About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a PRN Dental Assistant to provide high-quality care in an institutional setting. The role assists the dentist with inmate/resident treatment by preparing instruments, impressions, and filling materials; sterilizing and resetting the dental unit between patients; and maintaining dental supplies, equipment, and a clean work area. The incumbent also reviews dental services to help prevent inappropriate use or duplication and checks that inmates/residents complete necessary interventions, treatments, and services.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, equivalent, or greater.
• One year of dental assisting experience.
• Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program, or other requirements meeting the criteria of the Dental Practice Act in the state of practice and complying with the contract or applicable statutes.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist with inmate/resident treatment by setting up instruments for each patient and treatment.
• Prepare impressions and filling materials.
• Sterilize the dental unit and instruments after each treatment and replace instruments before the next patient.
• Control medications, syringes, dental supplies, and equipment; conduct inventory as required by established procedures.
• Keep equipment and the work area clean using appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services provided to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review inmate/resident status to ensure completion of necessary interventions, treatments, and services.
