About The Position

The Dental Assistant provides documentation of dental services to the dentist or their designee by maintaining dental charts, recording dental findings, and scheduling patient appointments. Accurate documentation enables dentists to monitor dental services and support quality patient care. The role also provides chair-side assistance, performs dental imaging, maintains equipment and supplies, and helps ensure the dental clinic is clean and sanitary. This PRN position serves patients in a correctional healthcare environment and is available only to people who reside in the United States.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or certification in Dental Technology from an accredited school.
• Experience in a private or public dental practice as a Dental Technician or Registered Dental Assistant.
• Demonstrate consistent sound judgment in making dental decisions within a correctional healthcare environment.
• Be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
• Attain and maintain all state-mandated certifications or trainings.
• Reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures; sterilize instruments and mix restorative materials as needed.
• Perform intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, and develop and mount x-ray films.
• Maintain x-ray equipment, processor, autoclave, and dental units according to specifications.
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, order supplies, and set up patient trays.
• Complete daily instrument count sheets and perform dental screenings.
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the dental clinic through careful practices.
• Maintain dental charts, document dental findings and services, and schedule patients for dental appointments.
