About The Position

The Dental Assistant provides documentation of dental services to the dentist or their designee. This includes maintaining dental charts, recording dental findings, and scheduling patient appointments so dentists can monitor services and provide appropriate care. The role also supports dental procedures and helps maintain the equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of the dental clinic in a correctional healthcare environment.

Requirements

An associate’s degree or certification in Dental Technology from an accredited school.
Experience in a private or public dental practice as a Dental Technician or Registered Dental Assistant.
Demonstrated consistent sound judgment in dental decisions within a correctional healthcare environment.
Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
Ability to attain and maintain all state-mandated certifications or trainings.
Must reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures.
Sterilize instruments and mix restorative materials as needed.
Perform intra-oral and extra-oral X-rays, and develop and mount X-ray films.
Maintain X-ray equipment, the processor, autoclave, and dental units according to specifications.
Manage supplies and equipment inventory, order supplies, and set up patient trays.
Complete daily instrument count sheets and perform dental screenings.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the dental clinic.
Maintain dental charts and records of dental findings, and schedule dental appointments.
