About The Position

The Dental Assistant provides clinical support that facilitates the relationship between patients and dentists, improves the efficiency of quality dental care, and maintains communication among dentists, patients, and administrative staff to support a positive patient experience. The position is with New Haven Dental in Hamden. Providers assisted may change depending on practice needs.

Requirements

• Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology.
• Possess certifications, licensure, or registration required by the state.
• Strong verbal skills.
• Embrace a positive, team-based approach to patient care.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Dental Assistant (C.D.A.) credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for treatment.
• Provide chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures.
• Expose radiographs and take intra-oral pictures.
• Provide postoperative instructions and patient education.
• Prepare, break down, disinfect, and sterilize treatment rooms and instruments.
• Maintain strict compliance with infection-control requirements and CDC, OSHA, and HIPAA standards.
• Maintain dental supply inventory.
• Perform other related job duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork while assisting providers who may change according to practice needs.
